CAVE NIL VINO
A Wine Lover’s Haven in Lyon Cave nil Vino (pronounced Ka-weh neel Wee-no), Lyon’s epicurean wine bar, is evolving into Bistrot des Bacchanales, the casual yet refined counterpart to its gastronomic big brother upstairs. Gone are Jean-Baptiste’s delightful small plates—now, we welcome you to a menu offering two enticing options at an accessible price: €35 for a three-course meal, featuring bold flavors with a distinct Lyonnais touch.
The Latin phrase behind the name translates to “Take (special) care of the Wine!”a fitting nod to a space dedicated to Bacchus himself. And rest assured, wine will never be in short supply here. Bistrot des Bacchanales shares its impressive 300-reference wine list with its fine dining counterpart, showcasing an exceptional selection from France, Italy, and Austria. At least nine wines by the glass are always available, carefully chosen—often surprising, never predictable. And, of course, as befits Lyon, you’ll almost always find a Beaujolais by the glass.
The Chef’s Cuisine is seasonal, slight, and locavore, drawing inspiration from Lyonnais specialties and his Italian roots. The menu changes frequently, ensuring fresh and exciting flavors, while his desserts have earned a loyal following among our regulars.
We’ve created a calm yet elegant atmosphere, where conviviality and warmth meet cozy sophistication. A small but inviting terrace allows guests to soak in the city’s charm during sunny days, while inside, the space remains refreshingly cool in summer and warmly welcoming in winter.
Nestled in the historic Ainay district, in Lyon’s 2nd arrondissement, between Bellecour and Carnot Perrache, Bistrot des Bacchanales is easily accessible by metro (Ampère Victor Hugo station). We also offer a partnership with Parc Ainay, just 50 meters away, ensuring a reserved spot at a fixed price, regardless of vehicle size.
